The angioplasty and scenting procedure is designed to re-open the inside of a blocked peripheral artery and
improve blood flow to the legs, kidneys and brain.
During angioplasty a balloon is inflated and deflated to crack and compress plaque buildup inside an artery.
Once angioplasty has widened the artery a mesh – metal tube called the stent can be placed inside the artery
to prevent it from collapsing or being closed off again.
